Actor Ajith Kumar returned to Chennai following his mother Mohini Mani's passing at 89. Several film and political figures, including Vijay and Trisha Krishnan, visited his residence to offer condolences. The family announced Mohini Mani died peacefully in her sleep after declining health and requested privacy for the private final rites.
