The Union Budget has reduced the Tax Collected at Source (TCS) on overseas education and medical remittances from 5% to 2% under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS). This move is expected to provide immediate financial relief to Indian families supporting students abroad, easing their upfront cash burden amidst rising international education costs.
